The fact they have their class sweatshirts means they are in the senior class and about to graduate, this will be nothing like the first 4 weeks. The first 4 weeks you couldn't even look at your food and ate in 90-degree movements, all the while the DI's watched and yelled at you. Not to mention your 8 glasses of water. You could not talk or look around, you stared off at 1000 yards. Everything was by feel and memory, not to mention you put the wet food away from you.

Hardest day for me as I lost my beautiful, loving Dad on July 4th 💔

I've waited 2 years to see my grandbaby. She is supposed to be home in October right now she is in the Persian Gulf on the USS Iwo Jima. I can't wait I really can't wait. Seems like yesterday I was changing her diapers. I hope all our kids get home and I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for your service. Being in a military family at home sometimes can be just as tough God bless all our kids

Someone peeling onions again

About a dozen years ago I was at out small town 4th of July parade. The color guard was approaching where we were sitting. A woman seated near by was talking about how her son was missing his first parade because he was off at Marine boot camp. About the time the color guard got to us there was a blur of blue from the other direction. This Marine in dress blues leaned over the woman’s shoulder and asked, “Hey mom, what’s for dinner”. In the color guard was a Marine Lt. Col. As he passed he kinda yelled at the kid, “Well played Marine, well played”. I doubt anybody near us saw the rest of the parade through clear eyes.

Not crying, I have allergies.

Whew....I've got some serious 'waterworks' going on over here after witnessing the reaction of the Mom seeing her boys. That was just a beautiful thing to see. So happy for the parents. I am tremendously grateful to the sons for their proud, honorable service. And to arrange to be there at the same time for their parents & family? Those young men are absolutely wonderful!
